7 Benefits of Getting the EVO ICL in Fort Worth

EVO ICL

When most people in Fort Worth start researching vision correction, LASIK is usually the first procedure they encounter. It’s well-known, widely performed, and effective for millions of patients. But LASIK isn’t the right fit for everyone, and even for those who qualify, it isn’t the only option worth considering. EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) has become an increasingly popular alternative, and for good reason. The procedure offers a distinct set of clinical advantages that make it the preferred choice for a wide range of patients seeking freedom from glasses and contacts.

Here are seven benefits of getting the EVO ICL in Fort Worth.

Benefit #1: No Corneal Tissue Is Removed

One of the most significant differences between EVO ICL and laser-based procedures is what happens, or more accurately, what doesn’t happen, to the cornea. LASIK works by reshaping corneal tissue using a laser. EVO ICL works differently. During the EVO procedure, a thin, flexible lens is placed inside the eye between the iris and the natural lens, leaving the corneal structure completely undisturbed.

This matters for patients who have been told they have thin corneas and are not eligible for LASIK. Because no corneal tissue is removed during EVO ICL surgery, corneal thickness is not a limiting factor. Patients who were previously told they had no surgical options for vision correction often find that EVO ICL is a viable path forward.

Benefit #2: It Can Correct Higher Prescriptions

LASIK can be a good option for those with mild to moderate refractive errors, but it has limits when it comes to higher degrees of nearsightedness. EVO ICL can correct higher ranges of nearsightedness and astigmatism, which places it in a different category entirely when it comes to prescription range.

For patients with significant nearsightedness who have spent years assuming they were simply too dependent on glasses or contacts to ever go without them, EVO ICL can be a game-changing option. EVO ICL addresses refractive errors that fall outside the treatable range for most laser procedures, giving more patients access to surgical vision correction.

Benefit #3: No Increased Dry Eye Risk

Dry eye is one of the most commonly discussed side effects associated with LASIK. The procedure involves creating a corneal flap, which can disrupt corneal nerves and temporarily or persistently reduce tear production. For patients who already experience dry eye symptoms, this is a real concern.

EVO ICL does not affect the corneal surface or its nerve supply. The lens is placed entirely inside the eye, with no alteration to the front surface structures that regulate tearing. As a result, the procedure does not cause or worsen dry eye syndrome.

Patients with pre-existing dryness who have hesitated to pursue vision correction because of this risk will find EVO ICL a far more compatible option.

Benefit #4: The Lens Is Removable

Every surgical procedure involves a degree of permanence, and that’s a consideration that gives many patients pause. EVO ICL is unique among vision correction procedures in that the lens can be removed or replaced if circumstances change. If a patient’s prescription shifts significantly over time, or if they develop a condition later in life that requires a different treatment approach, the EVO ICL lens can be taken out. Nothing about the eye’s natural structure has been altered, so options remain open. This reversibility gives patients a level of long-term flexibility that laser procedures, which permanently reshape corneal tissue, simply cannot offer.

Benefit #5: Built-In UV Protection

The Collamer material used in the EVO ICL lens is biocompatible, meaning it works naturally within the eye’s environment without triggering an inflammatory response. It also includes built-in ultraviolet protection, filtering out harmful UV rays before they reach the natural lens and retina.

Benefit #6: Quick Procedure and Fast Recovery

The EVO ICL procedure at Mueller Vision typically takes around five to fifteen minutes per eye. It is performed on an outpatient basis, meaning patients go home the same day. Many report noticeably clearer vision within the first 24 to 48 hours after surgery. In general, most patients have a smooth recovery and are able to return to work and normal daily activities within a few days.

Benefit #7: Dr. Mueller Is One of the Nation’s Leading EVO ICL Experts

Choosing where to have EVO ICL surgery matters as much as the decision to have it. At Mueller Vision, patients have access to one of the most experienced EVO ICL surgeons in the country. Dr. Brett Mueller is one of two certified EVO ICL surgeon trainers in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and is actively sought out to teach other ophthalmologists his technique. He also served as an investigator during the FDA clinical trials that led to EVO ICL’s approval in the United States.

That level of expertise translates directly to patient outcomes. When considering the cost of EVO ICL in Texas, it’s worth factoring in not just the procedure itself but the experience of the surgeon performing it. Patients at Mueller Vision are not receiving care from a surgeon who recently added EVO ICL to a menu of services. They are working with a specialist who helped shape how this procedure is performed across the country.

If you are exploring LASIK or other vision correction options and want to understand whether EVO ICL might be a better fit for your eyes, a consultation with Dr. Mueller will give you a clear picture of which procedure aligns with your anatomy, prescription, and goals.

Curious whether EVO ICL is the right fit for your eyes? Schedule an appointment at Mueller Vision in Fort Worth, TX.

Just had my cataract removed from my right eye by Dr. Mueller. Even though there was some nervousness on my part the surgery went well and was quite painless. Dr. Mueller and his staff are very attentive and explained everything to me beforehand and as he went during the procedure. My surgery is only a few days old but I can already tell a huge difference in my eyesight. I've never had a surgeon take the time to call me himself after a procedure to see how I was doing, but Dr. Mueller did exactly that, that evening. In my book you can't go wrong trusting your precious eyesight to Dr. Mueller! I'll be having my left eye done in a few days and am looking forward to seeing everything more clearly. My thanks to him and his staff as well as to the staff at the surgical facility where the procedure was done.

What a great visual experience from start to finish. That's no pun intended bc the office environment is visually appealing and relaxing as well. I just loved Dr.Crowell's energy. But only is she bubbly and energetic, but super knowledgeable as well. She patiently and honestly answered my questions as I went in with a specific concern. Instead of trying to drag me into surgery for the money, she was like "no big deal right now so let's just keep an eye on it."

Can here after discovering the EVO ICL option corrective eye surgery as an alternative to LASIK. Dr. Mueller and staff were nothing short of exceptional. They are very thorough with the pre op, surgery, and the extensive follow ups. My vision has dramatically improved and I’m already seeing 20/15 after 2 days of the procedure. For anyone considering this route, please try Mueller Vision. Dr. Mueller was one of the investigators giving trial to the FDA for getting EVO ICL approved!

My experience with Mueller Vision has been amazing! I had been battling recurrent corneal erosion after an eye injury for a tad over two years. Initially, I would have an episode every few months or so and I was kinda, sorta okay with that. Unfortunately the frequency of the erosions began increasing and that is when I decided to visit Meuller Vision. They performed a procedure (don't know the exact name of the procedure) to remove the damaged layer of my cornea. I am now three months post-op and so far, so good. Thank you to Alondra, Amy, Dr. Crowell and Dr. Meuller. You guys are great but I hope to never have to see you again.
