Dr. Courtney Crowell

Specializing in

Committed to Service and Vision Care Advocacy

A native of the Memphis area, Dr. Crowell completed her undergraduate education at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville before earning her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio. She went on to complete a residency at the Community Eye Clinic in Fort Worth, where she provided comprehensive care for underserved populations. This experience not only refined her expertise in advanced ocular disease management but also deepened her commitment to service — both locally and abroad. Her time in residency fostered a profound appreciation for the human side of eye care, inspiring her to continue mission-based work, volunteering at local and international clinics to deliver compassionate care to those most in need.

Dr. Crowell remains deeply devoted to advancing her profession and expanding access to vision care across Texas. She actively serves in local and statewide optometric and public health organizations, lending her voice to initiatives that protect and promote high standards of eye care. Her involvement reflects a steadfast belief that every individual deserves the opportunity to experience the world with clarity and confidence. Through her advocacy, leadership, and dedication, she continues to champion the future of optometry and the patients it serves.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Crowell embraces life with the same enthusiasm she brings to her practice. She cherishes spending quality time with loved ones, cheering on her beloved Arkansas Razorbacks, discovering new culinary gems as an avid foodie, traveling to new destinations near and far, or finding peace on a long run — she values the balance between caring for others and savoring life’s many adventures.

Open Letter to Patients

I didn’t have the most traditional introduction to the world of eye care. I was in the fifth grade when a playful afternoon with friends took an unexpected turn — a boomerang accident left me with a painful eye injury and a lasting memory. What could have been just a frightening experience became something much more meaningful because of the optometrist who cared for me. They didn’t just treat my eye — they guided me through the fear and uncertainty with kindness, reassurance, and a calm confidence that made a lasting impression. As I healed, I found myself fascinated by the world of vision and the incredible role our eyes play in connecting us to life around us.

That experience became the foundation for my lifelong passion for eye care. Over the years, my interest naturally deepened toward ocular disease — understanding, diagnosing, and treating the complex conditions that can affect the eyes. I realized early on that my role as an optometrist wasn’t just to treat symptoms, but to help patients understand how their eyes can reveal so much about their overall health.

At Mueller Vision, I’m grateful for the opportunity to have these conversations every day — to educate and empower my patients about their vision, and to connect the dots between eye findings and broader conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and autoimmune disorders. Each interaction reminds me of why I chose this profession: because every patient deserves to be seen, heard, and cared for with compassion and expertise.

That moment in the fifth grade could have been just an accident — but it became my calling. The care I received as a child continues to shape how I care for others today. My promise to you is the same one I was given years ago: to treat not just your eyes, but you — with patience, empathy, and dedication every step of the way.

Sincerely,

Dr. Courtney Crowell

Just had my cataract removed from my right eye by Dr. Mueller. Even though there was some nervousness on my part the surgery went well and was quite painless. Dr. Mueller and his staff are very attentive and explained everything to me beforehand and as he went during the procedure. My surgery is only a few days old but I can already tell a huge difference in my eyesight. I've never had a surgeon take the time to call me himself after a procedure to see how I was doing, but Dr. Mueller did exactly that, that evening. In my book you can't go wrong trusting your precious eyesight to Dr. Mueller! I'll be having my left eye done in a few days and am looking forward to seeing everything more clearly. My thanks to him and his staff as well as to the staff at the surgical facility where the procedure was done.

What a great visual experience from start to finish. That's no pun intended bc the office environment is visually appealing and relaxing as well. I just loved Dr.Crowell's energy. But only is she bubbly and energetic, but super knowledgeable as well. She patiently and honestly answered my questions as I went in with a specific concern. Instead of trying to drag me into surgery for the money, she was like "no big deal right now so let's just keep an eye on it."

Can here after discovering the EVO ICL option corrective eye surgery as an alternative to LASIK. Dr. Mueller and staff were nothing short of exceptional. They are very thorough with the pre op, surgery, and the extensive follow ups. My vision has dramatically improved and I’m already seeing 20/15 after 2 days of the procedure. For anyone considering this route, please try Mueller Vision. Dr. Mueller was one of the investigators giving trial to the FDA for getting EVO ICL approved!

My experience with Mueller Vision has been amazing! I had been battling recurrent corneal erosion after an eye injury for a tad over two years. Initially, I would have an episode every few months or so and I was kinda, sorta okay with that. Unfortunately the frequency of the erosions began increasing and that is when I decided to visit Meuller Vision. They performed a procedure (don't know the exact name of the procedure) to remove the damaged layer of my cornea. I am now three months post-op and so far, so good. Thank you to Alondra, Amy, Dr. Crowell and Dr. Meuller. You guys are great but I hope to never have to see you again.
